Supporting Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship

The LIFT program is designed to support and empower women and girls to pursue opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and entrepreneurship. Through tailored learning, industry collaboration, and community engagement, LIFT fosters growth, confidence, and leadership in women from diverse backgrounds.

About LIFT and WREN’s Role

The Women’s Research Engineers Network (WREN) champions international collaboration among women engineers and researchers, while advocating for policies that help women thrive in their academic and professional careers. WREN actively supports the LEARN pillar of the LIFT program, providing resources, mentorship, and pathways for women to excel in STEM education, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Our mission is to increase representation and opportunities for women in engineering and related fields, breaking down barriers to success and encouraging diverse voices to contribute to the future of STEM and innovation.

The LIFT Program Overview

LEARN

Empowering Educators in STEM

WREN works with current and pre-service teachers to enhance their confidence and capabilities in delivering STEM education. Through hands-on Makerspace workshops, participants gain practical tools to foster curiosity, creativity, and STEM engagement among girls and young women.

IGNITE

Igniting the Entrepreneurial Spirit

Women from all walks of life, especially those from diverse, Indigenous, and underrepresented backgrounds, are invited to explore entrepreneurship. You’ll learn how to transform your ideas into viable businesses or community initiatives, gaining practical skills through mentorship, prototyping, customer validation, and pitch training.

FLOURISH

Building Future Leaders in STEM

Through industry partnerships, WREN and LIFT offer tailored opportunities for women PhD candidates in STEM, including leadership training, industry placements, and networking. Participants also benefit from the IGNITE entrepreneurial program to further their career potential and drive innovation in their fields.

TRANSFORM

Creating Lasting Impact Through Community Engagement

WREN and LIFT recognize that community transformation comes through collective effort. Together, we host workshops, networking events, and community outreach activities to inspire women and girls, showcase successful role models in STEM-E (STEM + Entrepreneurship), and spark interest in STEM careers.
